Father Peter Banbatcha Killed in Vasai

Christian Priest killed in Vasai

In a sensational murder, a priest at Vasai taluka was brutally stabbed to death by unidentified persons – and his body was found in the wee hours of Thursday. The Vasai police is baffled with the murder of Father Peter Banbatcha (75) – and is probing the case from various angles. Father Banbatcha was formerly the chief priest of St. Peter Church at Vasai and since the last over a decade's time, has been running an ashram and a recovery home for alcoholics at Babholi. Father Felix Machado, the Archbishop of Vasai, was shocked to hear the news of his death and rushed to the incident spot. “Father Peter was a priest full of faith, serving the Church and the people without discrimination of caste or creed, he forgot himself to serve the most poor and abandoned,” the Archbishop said. Initial investigations by the police have revealed that Peter Banbatcha was stabbed with a knife and scissors and a rope was tied around his neck.

I as a Catholic Priest working in the diocese of Vasai, can not belive this. The Land of the first saint of India, vasai...... so many told me since I came here in 2007, that vasai is the most peaceful place in whole of Mumbai......... How came that a simple priest being killed so brutaly........ just wonder..... the police is just a walk away distance from the place in this took place...... what our police men do here. can't they keep the life of the people........

The Land of Gandhi and of the first saint of India cry once again from the bottom of the the heart........... "WE FORGIVE YOU, FOR WE ARE CHRISTIANS......... WE ARE CATHOLIC"
