A NON-SENSE CASE.....

Recently they have started to build a bridge between two villages here near by the seminary. Now the work of the bridge is over and now the government of Kerala have started to take land for approach road. Since then we have all kinds of problems regarding the land. The property and small chapel and things were donated to the congregation by a family. Now when the government have issued money for the property that they are acquiring for the construction of the road, that family came to ask for money for them. The demand of them is that when they had given the property and things for the congregation, they had written in the document that there would be no transaction of this land. So the family wants money of the land and they are ready to share with us the money of the wall, trees and of the small shrine that is there.
Last some months we understand about things that are happening badly to us. First we could not find the documents of the house and property. Superior was telling that he had sent it Rome (genaralate). Some others in the archives of the district. We all were searching all over the place for it. At last we found that they documents of the house was in the bishop house of Cochin diocese. Now after we have found our documents there comes some problems from the family that had donated this land to us.  They would like to get the money that has been promised to us –the owners from the government.
Now I had to go with the companions to the collectorate office and speak with the district collector. She looks so simple and she had called the other officers then and there.  Hope that there would an answer to these problems. Waiting for the miracle to happen.
Beyond all these things, I am surprised how a donor can ask for the money of the gift. The point that they shows us is that there in the document, its written there is no right for the holder to do any transaction of the land. So they want the money that comes through the transaction of the land for them. But the fact is that we are not making any transaction on our own. Rather we do it for the common cause. The land is being taken by the government through land accruing. The government has the right for that (at least that’s how I think). The claims for money is baseless and nonsense.
