Prayer for Europe




Lord, we’ve become poor in Europe.

We thought we were rich,

but now realize more than ever how poor we are.



We’re poor

because we no longer thirst for God.

We’re poor

because we no longer hunger for justice.

We’re poor

because we’re blind to our wounded heart.

We’re poor

because we’re so well fed.



Lord, you became poor, voluntarily,

a servant, obedient unto death.

You let your heart be wounded,

and wounded, it became a source of salvation.



With Father Dehon we beg you:

Hide us in your wounds;

Fire us with your blood;

Bless us with your Spirit;

and unite us with the Father.
